Everyone deserves to smile freely.

Millions suffer in silence with a devastating condition that steals their ability to eat, speak, sleep, and smile. We exist to change that.

An estimated 10-15 million people live with temporomandibular joint disorders in the United States, and this number only accounts for cases that are formally diagnosed.

Community-driven advocacy, real change

Awareness

Fight TMJ raises awareness through education, storytelling, and outreach. We shine light on the human side of the disorder so that policymakers and communities can see what’s been overlooked for too long.

Advocacy

We advocate for patient rights, evidence-based care, and equitable access to care. We work alongside patients, professionals, and other members in the TMJ ecosystem - because lived experience is the most powerful force for reform.

Action

With all our activities, we push for better care, stronger policies, and community-driven solutions by signing petitions, sharing stories, hosting local events, and simply starting conversations that matter to create ripples of change.

No one deserves to endure grief in silence.

Our story began in December 2021, when our founder, Cameron Maltby, set out on a mission to make sure that no life has to endure their pain unseen. After losing his brother, Spencer Maltby, to the emotional costs of temporomandibular joint disorders, Cameron’s vision of creating a space that advocates for the unseen, the dismissed, and the overlooked in medical discussions. To put simply, we began with one mission: to fight TMJ.

Did you know that unlike other chronic pain conditions? TMJ disorders primarily affect young adults, with the highest incidence often between the ages of 20 and 40.
